Gedono

Along with Putut - everyone's favourite Bahasa Indonesia teacher and general all-round nice guy - Iris and Philip popped up to Gedono which is not far from Salatiga up on the foothills of the mighty Mount Merbabu. Gedono is a Catholic nunnery. We greatly enjoyed the quiet and reflective liturgical service and Philip even managed to follow much of the sermon. The architecture of the compound was a mix of European monestary and Javanese joglo. Afterwards, while drinking some freshly made Gedono yoghurt, Putut taught Philip how to drive around on his vespa. Although the threat was real, no blood was spilt that day.
